Simple green tea with honey!
When I’m feeling adventurous, I like spiced chai. It’s so difficult to get it this far south, though, so I don’t have it as often as I would like.

Somehow, the scholar’s wanderings brought her to where the original Chantry once stood. The space reminded her of the silent, charred patches of land left behind after the Blight. Remains of tall steps could still be seen, the base of the Chanter’s Board still present.
*flushes and tries valiantly to turn the subject back to her initial comments*
Isabela would most certainly make off with the treasury, although I believe it might have more to do with certain items contained within being shiny rather than any real desire to get one over on the people of Kirkwall.
As far as dragons go, no. There were certainly no dragons involved in my travels. Had there been I might actually have some interesting stories to share with the children in the Gallows. As it was, I didn’t think for a moment that my departure would cause such a stir.
Of course with any large sum of money, there is bound to be eye-catching baubles. Shiny things and the like. But wouldn’t Isabela get some sort of satisfaction from the expressions on our faces as she pulled out of port with heaps of gold? If I was in her place, that’s what I would be focusing on. Not that I would ever… oh my, can you even imagine?
I think it’s for the best that you didn’t have to face any dragons. I’ve heard they can truly ruin a good trip. Besides, the children are quite happy with their fictions.
I think the only things that Isabela gets satisfaction from are not suitable to be discussed in public. Although…now that I think on it more, you may be correct. She may indeed derive immense pleasure from ‘getting one over on the city of Kirkwall’. I’d hoped that her…dalliance with the
blood mageJowan would have changed her for the better, but I suppose that was too much to expect.*shakes his head sadly*
What have you been up to, Dagna, since I’ve been out of the city? I haven’t forgotten about my promise to escort you to the Chantry, although I’m sure by now you’ve made the trip many times and certainly do not need my protection.
Oh? I like Isabela. She’s been nothing but kind to me since I’ve come to Kirkwall. She may be… disrespectful towards authority figures and a trickster of sorts, but she’s a good person and a good friend.
I’ve been busy with the usual. Tutoring apprentices and reading takes up a great deal of my time. I started working on my manuscript again, which was difficult since I hadn’t even looked at it since I left Orlais. There’s so much to be done, but I’m enjoying all of it!
I have been to the Chantry a few times, yes, but I wouldn’t mind going to another visit! The atmosphere there is very soothing. Kirkwall has been quiet, though, so I haven’t visited the Chantry as of late.
Am I permitted to ask where you have been, ser?
*nods*
Well, let me know if you change your mind. There’s no need to freeze when there are other options available.
As far as-wait, they thought that I ran off?
*huffs*
If I had run off with anything I can assure you that it would not have been the treasury.
*coughs*
I mean, well. I most assuredly did not do that.
I’ll be sure to let you know if it becomes unbearable.
I don’t think they really thought you had left. They were just trying to find excuses for your absence. “When the Knight-Captain returns from slaying dragons” and all that. That didn’t happen, either, did it? *grins*
There are very few people I could see taking the treasury. You’re not one of them. Isabela, maybe. I could see her making off with it just to see how people reacted.
What would you have run off with, then, if not the treasury? *playful smile*

That is good to hear! Your absence created quite a few interesting rumors. You know how apprentices are, of course. *grins*
Kirkwall… is very cold. I’m doing my best to keep warm, but I’m beginning to worry about the Wounded Coast’s tree population. I’m going through more firewood than I properly should.
Do you need some warmer clothing? Or perhaps a warmer room in which to sleep? I can see if there is anything available, once I check back in with the Knight-Commander, of course.
*coughs*
I…rumors, you say?
If I may inquire, what sort of rumors?
I’m adjusting. Winter always takes me by surprise for whatever reason. I’ve bought some new blankets and someone just put some wards on my window so the cold doesn’t get in as easily. No need to worry! I’ll be just fine.
D-Do you really want to know? Some are truly bizarre. One young boy was convinced you had gone off to tame a Varterral. For what reasons, I was never told. Others said you joined the Wardens or ran off to Nevarra with Kirkwall’s treasury. I also heard you were abducted by werewolves. I feel like I should write all these adventures down, even if they are all rubbish.
Let no one say mages cannot entertain themselves. For better or for worse.

Hello, ser! I trust you are well?
Dagna! It’s good to see you.
I am well, yes.
How has Kirkwall been treating you?
That is good to hear! Your absence created quite a few interesting rumors. You know how apprentices are, of course. *grins*

Hello, ser! I trust you are well?
Darling, I have a surprise for you.
A surprise? Really?
How was your trip? It wasn’t too cold, I hope.
Nevarra is quite lovely, actually. But I happened to stop at an aviary there and I found this…
…for you.
For me?
Oh my… he’s… he’s adorable!
Thank you!
<3
What are you going to name him?
I’m not sure if you’ll be able to keep him at the Gallows, so I haven’t bought him a perch yet
I think he’ll be all right at the Rose for tonight.
Jethann, you broke Dagna.
I am not broken! Just… very, very excited!
Darling, I have a surprise for you.

*gives her a smile that, for once, is all warm and sincerity, and not at all like his normal, flirty, goofy grin. It’s one that reaches his eyes and seems to come from somewhere deep inside* It does make sense. And I have to thank you, anyway, because you’re one of the nicest people I’ve met here in Kirkwall. *chuckles as he looks at the fire* I haven’t felt anywhere close to this relaxed since I got here, but with you… *smiles down at his tea cup* …its nice to be able to sit and drink some tea and feel like I don’t have to worry about anything for awhile because everything is finally… *sighs contently* …quiet.
*looks back over at her and smiles again, gently* I’m glad you’re my friend.
*smiles in return* Oh, I don’t know. You just have to find the nice people. They like to hide, I think. *giggles*
Quiet is good, yes. Truthfully, I try to surround myself with noise, but when there’s nothing… it’s quite amazing.
And I’m glad you’re my friend as well, Zac. I’m happy to have met you, even if you strip when you get drunk. *grins*
*laughs* Yes, well. As long as you didn’t spike the tea, we should be fine.
*hears a sudden commotion outside and gets out of his chair, peering out the window and letting out a profound sigh* Alas. Seems my short reprieve is at its end. *sets down the teacup and folds up the blanket, hanging it up on the back of the chair he abandoned* Thank you for the tea and the fire, my dear. *leans over and gives her a chaste kiss on the cheek* I’ll drop by for a visit another day, alright?
I’ll be sure to avoid that, then. *frowns* I don’t even own any alcohol, do I? Hmm, interesting.
*nods* Of course. You take care and stay safe. At least as safe as any Warden can stay. Just remember you’re always welcome. I’ll see you soon, then.
*eyes dart a little bit* Oh! Um…thank you. *sips tea and pointedly stares at the fire, pretending that his hand isn’t shaking from something that isn’t cold*
*fidgets for a moment, then drags another chair beside Zac’s, sits, takes the tea cup and clasps her hands around his, as if trying to warm them* You’ll be all right. Things will work themselves out; it just takes time. It will be all right. *almost smiles* I can’t make promises, of course, but I’ll do anything in my power to help. Even if that means I just make tea.
*studies her wordlessly for a long moment, and then smiles warmly at her* Thank you, Dagna. *looks back at the fire and gives it an almost rueful smile* For not asking me.
*shakes head* I shouldn’t have to ask. There’s no need to thank me, either. One of the greatest things about having friends is that you don’t always have to know everything or say everything. *laughs* If that makes any sense.
